Abstract

This article aims to analyze alcoholism, taking as a reference the psychoanalytic bias of a clinical approach. In this way, the pathology is understood as multifactorial, whose psycho-socio-cultural nuances, under this bias, are valued through what is subjective in the addict, leading him to the detriment of consensus. In the individual's attempt to fill existential voids resulting from the primitive lack of maternal or paternal care, alcohol becomes an agent of homeostasis in this process, whose subsequent compulsion occurs as a disorder of regulation of internal tension. The respective approach of this object-subject relationship in the driving aspect of the pathology is based on theoretical assumptions proposed by psychoanalysis. The methodology applied in this study is the Bibliographic Review, applying the UniLogos methodology: Study, Reflection and Production. The theoretical contribution was based on consultations with Scielo, Qualis Periodicals and books that address the theme.
